Elly the Emu is a voice-first friend for preschoolers (ages 2–5). Your child simply talks, and Elly answers out loud — no reading, no typing, no screens full of text. Here's exactly how we keep that experience safe.
Elly's safety promise
Safety is the foundation of Elly — built in from the very first line, not added on.
No screens full of text
The child's screen shows only Elly — no chat logs, no typing, no reading. A pre-reader can never be shown anything inappropriate in writing, because nothing is written on their screen.
Never asks for personal details
Elly is instructed never to ask for a surname, home address, school name, phone number, email, passwords or photos — on every single reply.
Gently steers to safety
Scary, grown-up or unsafe topics are warmly redirected back to safe, playful ideas. Elly always points a worried child to a trusted grown-up, calmly and without prying.
No ads, no links, no wandering off
There is no browser, no advertising and no way to leave the app from the child screen. Elly never asks a child to keep secrets, buy anything, or contact strangers.
Privacy & your controls
You hold the keys. Elly collects as little as possible, and you decide the rest.
Gentle time limits
Play time is bounded. When minutes run out, Elly simply says she needs a little rest — a natural, calm stop rather than an endless screen.
Parent-only controls (PIN protected)
A numeric PIN guards the Parent area. You decide whether Elly may use your child's first name, remember conversations, or retain voice — all off by default.
Your data, your choice
If memory is off, conversations are deleted when the session ends. You can wipe all stored conversation data any time from the Parent area.
A friend, never a replacement
Elly is a supportive animated companion — never claiming to be a real person, and always encouraging children to share how they feel with a grown-up.
